Dental experts recommend that we brush our teeth for two minutes every day twice a day, but many of us rarely do!
‘Brushing last thing at night removes the deposits which have built up from eating and drinking during the day, as well as removing plaque – the cause of both tooth decay and gum disease. ‘
The last brush of the day also coats the teeth with fluoride, which is not washed away through eating and drinking, and continues to protect the tooth’s surface further during sleep. Two minutes can seem like a long time when you are brushing your teeth, but think about what else you can do in two minutes; write a list, brush your hair, sing a song, listen to a song, send a text message, make a drink, reply to an email.
These are just some of the things that can take two minutes and we do them without thinking, but taking two minutes twice a day can help prevent oral health problems. Check out our website, blog and Pinterest boards for more information about brushing your teeth.
