At some stage in our lives most of us will experience the loss of a tooth but what happens when you find that you have all your teeth missing or failing. Most people will feel completely deflated and that they have no solution other than having dentures however this is simply not the case as dental implants can provide a permanent solution if you are missing all your teeth whether it be from bad oral hygiene, poor nutrition, an accident or for some it could just be generics.
Dental Implants are a great way of replacing missing or failing teeth as they act and look like the persons own natural teeth not only giving them back their smile but also aligning their jaw and giving them back their chewing ability so they can enjoy all of the foods which once would have been forbidden. This in turn can also aid in the health of the patient as their eating habits will improve and they have better nutrition. With dental implants in the patient’s mouth the patient can again have a full set of teeth just as they had in the past confident in the knowledge that unlike dentures the dental implants are a permanent fixture and will not fall out at the most inconvenient moments. Patients will be able to talk, eat and laugh with confidence.
At the Marylebone Implant Centre we are a highly experienced prestige dedicated dental implant practice right in the heart of Central London offering many different options of dental implants that fits the needs of the patients with all of their teeth missing or failing. We have changed the lives of many of our patients with dental implants and bone grafting procedures, below are some of the dental implant treatments we carry out at our practice on a daily basis.
Teeth in a Day
Many patients will see adverts for teeth in a day and believe that they will have the dental implants and their permanent porcelain teeth fitted on the same day however this is never the case and a bit of a misconception. The teeth in a day concept means that on the day when the implantologist places the dental implants he or she will be able to fit a temporary set of acrylic teeth on top of the dental implants straight away so the patient is never left without any teeth.
The acrylic temporary teeth of the Teeth-in-a-day protocol will stay in the patients mouth from the moment when the dental implants are placed until the dental implants are healed and have integrated with the bone This healing/integration period can take in average 3 to 6 months and this is when the definitive porcelain teeth will be finally fitted.
To be a candidate for teeth in a day firstly the implant consultant will need to assess the patient and determine if the patient has enough bone, what the patients bite is like as these are essential factors for the Teeth in a day procedure. However if you do not have enough bone there are many other dental implant treatments that the patient can go forward with it , Teeth in a day is not suitable for everyone. However at the Marylebone Implant Centre pleased be assured we would never leave any of our patients without teeth.
Implant supported Overdentures
Overdentures are similar to regular dentures in that they are removable by the patient when the patient wishes however that is where the resemblance ends. Dental implant supported overdentures unlike regular dentures is a type of denture that is attached to dental implants and gives the patient the confidence that it is stronger and much more reliable than a regular denture.
Dental Implant supported overdentures are usually the best course of treatment if a patient has no teeth left in the jaw and has enough bone in the patient’s jaw to support new implants. The overdentures have special attachments connected to the dental implants and to the under layer of the overdenture called locators.
These locators click into place in order to hold the implant supported overdenture firm and secure and will eliminate the rocking or moving which you would get with a regular denture, giving the patients a complete set of new teeth that are comfortable and stable to eat with. The patient can be confident that they will have no embarrassing moments of their teeth just dropping out at the most inconvenient of times.
Full Mouth Fixed Implant Bridges
If a patient has enough bone, tissue and gum in their mouth and they are looking for full mouth dental implants then they are the ideal candidate for Full Mouth Fixed Implant Bridges however if you do have bone loss you can also have Full Mouth Fixed Implant Bridges as the implant consultant can do the bone grafting at the same time as he or she places the dental implants.
A full mouth fixed implant bridge is usually fitted over 6 or 8 dental implants and is not removable by the patient only by the dentist. It is normally done on the patient’s full mouth and the patient does not need to worry about having to remove the bridge or the bridge coming out at an inconvenient time as the full mouth fixed implant bridge will either be screw retained or cemented to the dental implants giving an extremely comfortable, stable, secure fit.
