Everyone knows that it’s not what you say, it’s what you do. Your children are very aware of your habits. They notice whether you brush your teeth quickly right before bed. They notice if you don’t brush your teeth at all. If you want to teach your children good oral hygiene, it is important that you take the lead.
Teach your children good oral hygiene by making sure that you tell them the importance of brushing their teeth at least twice a day. Make sure they know how important it is to keep their teeth clean. You might be able to show them pictures of people who have had oral health problems. Tell them that bad oral hygiene could eventually lead to tooth loss, which is not a good look for anyone. Of course, missing teeth can be replaced with a dental implant, but it is better to prevent these problems instead of trying to fix them later on.
Another thing that children need to be reminded to do is floss their teeth. Small particles of food can get stuck between teeth and start to stink if they are not removed. Although many of us neglect to floss regularly, it is important. More important than anything is to remember to teach your children how important healthy teeth are. Start teaching them early about good oral hygiene habits now and send them down the path to a healthy mouth for the rest of their life.
