Here at the Marylebone Implant Centre we have listed some of our suggestions, some do’s & don’ts to help you prevent any problems occurring with your mouth and teeth over the coming months whilst staying healthy.
What you eat and drink can cause tooth decay, so a healthy diet is not only important for a healthy body it is also important for a healthy mouth and teeth. However some people have the misconception that if it says Low Fat that you are eating healthy. A balanced diet should include plenty of fruit and vegetables, as well as starchy foods, such as rice, potatoes, pasta and proteins such as meat, fish and eggs. However what most people do not realise is some of these healthy foods contain a lot of hidden sugar which research has shown can cause a lot of tooth decay.
In the summer, sometimes we consume more fruit and fruit juices. The citric fruit juices can be delicious and very refreshing, but again, they also contain acids that can core the surface of the teeth if not eaten with balance. The same thing for some fizzy drinks.
More salads sometimes mean more dressing, and more dressing sometimes means more vinegar which is an acid and can wear, if consumed in excess, the surface of the enamel.
So whilst trying to get healthy this summer, here are Marylebone Implant Centre’s helpful Do’s and Don’ts on foods/drinks to watch out for with your summer diet.
Wine, cigarette smoke, tea and coffee are all teeth-staining culprits. Keep them to a minimum to stop your teeth becoming stained.
At Marylebone Implant Centre our hygienist Ellison can give your teeth a professional clean, which can help to reduce the staining.
