Dr. Francisco Marques dos Santos graduated from dental school at the ISCS Egas Moniz, Lisbon, Portugal.

He then completed a postgraduate course in fixed prosthodontics and CAD-CAM systems and he practiced as a general dentist with a special interest in fixed prosthodontics. After developing his general dentistry skills, he found his passion in the field of oral rehabilitation, from reconstructive surgical procedures to implant placement and aesthetic rehabilitation. Francisco then to move to New York, where under the supervision of Dr Dennis Tarnow – one of the world opinion leaders in implant dentistry – he successfully completed the International Program In Advanced Implant Dentistry at New York University College Of Dentistry.

During his residency, Francisco had the opportunity to develop his skills and present his research work in the field of Bone Grafting, Dental Implant Design and Surface, and Prosthetic Rehabilitation of Dental Implants. His academic work was awarded by some of the most prestigious academies in the world, such as the American Academy of Osseointegration, Greater New York Dental Meeting, Northeastern Society of Implant Dentistry, NYU Research Day.

Francisco also completed a certificate in Advanced Bone Grafting Techniques under the supervision of Dr Mike Pikos at the Pikos Institute, Tampa, Florida, USA.

Dr. Santos decided then to relocate to the UK, London where he took the clinical direction of an implant centre as the principle full-time implantologist. Francisco successfully placed more than 10000 implants and has performed more than 4000 bone grafts among other surgical procedures. He then opened the Marylebone Implant Centre.

Dr Santos has also been actively lecturing in the UK and abroad. His topic of excellence is Anterior Immediate implant placement – Biological, functional and aesthetic aspects. Francisco also completed a course on “Digital Smile Design by Christian Coachman”. This technique seeks to present to the public a new face of dentistry, more human, emotional and artistic, further enhancing our noble profession in society, because after all there are not many things in this life that are more important than a healthy, natural, confident and beautiful smile.

He also successfully completed the “3 Series Master Course – Aesthetic and functional rehabilitation, by Dr Mauro Fradeani”, one of the world-renowned references in Prosthodontics (Aesthetic and functional rehabilitation).
